Welcome to my new website! After years of working on other people's websites for a living, I decided to create my own site - so here it is! I'm going to be writing about all things online marketing (and also about integrating online & offline marketing strategies).
If you've visited the AmazingAngelaD.com domain previously, you might remember my old Flavors.me website that used to reside here. I decided to get rid of that site because it didn't have a blog component and really wasn't SEO-friendly at all. I do still recommend a Flavors.me site for anyone looking for a quick do-it-yourself portfolio website that doesn't necessarily need to rank in search engines, though. I seriously got the site shown in the screen shot below registered on a custom domain, up and running, and filled will "content" (that was actually just showcasing things that lived elsewhere online) in one afternoon.
Now you might be asking yourself, "When would someone want a portfolio site that doesn't rank in search engines?"
The correct answer is "never", but there are still practical use cases for getting a Flavors.me site. For example, if you were starting a new job hunt and wanted to create a "home" for all your social media profile links (like YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), and blog RSS feeds from old employers or guest posts from around the web, under a single URL to include on your resume / email signature - you can't find an easier, cheaper, or faster solution than Flavors.me. It's a great way to make yourself appear more professional than having no site at all and a half a dozen URL links on your resume or personal business cards.
However, most people that use Flavors.me sites are musicians, photographers, and other artists with very visual portfolios. The platform was really designed for that type of content, as you can see by the theme designs. Of course, if you have a little more time, patience, and know-how other platforms like Wordpress are obviously a better, more customizable, and engagement-oriented solution for a portfolio website (even for content like images, videos, and music files).
So... that's what this upgrade is all about! The site still (obviously) under construction, so please check back for updates, connect with me on social media, or subscribe to my RSS feed to stay in touch! If you have topics you want me to cover, please reach out and let me know.
